Animals Stay in Shelters
How Long is to Long for an Animal to stay in a Shelter
Many people don't see the factors that don't go into the process of animals and how long they stay in a shelter for. The process starts right when the dog either gets picked up by one of our vans or once the animal is dropped off at the shelter. We have to look at the factors such as health right away to ensure we can get the proper medical care to the animal to get them to full health if they need such care. Next we want them to feel welcomed and not scared of the new environment so it is a key role to ensure we do everything in our ability to treat each animal with affection and care. These animals could spend weeks or months with us at the shelter so it is important to gain their trust and show we are helping them vs just holding them in a cage until someone picks them up. Our biggest priority when receiving an animal is to get them to their forever home as quickly as possible.
The Process of Each Animal While At The Shelter
Each animal may have a different experience once they are on their way to the shelter or at the shelter. The starting steps is to maintain and find out the health of each and every animal that enters our building to ensure we provide proper care to allow them to be comfortable. Next step is seeing what type of personality they have and if they are good around humans or other animals which allows us to tel their future owners what to avoid to allow the animal to live a full happy life with a stress free environment. Finally the last step is to ensure full comfort while the animal is staying at the shelter to allow them to show their true colors around other animals and humans and to have that playful side of them come out.
